Pulleys

The importance of a good pulley in the movement’s performance is way undervalued, mostly because one cannot see the inside of the stirrup. There are usually large amounts of grime build up. Also, the sleeve needs polished. This leads to increased friction and decreased power transmission to the movement from the weight.

Shown above is our ButterBearing installed in a Kieninger pulley. Two of them side by side fit perfectly. Any person with a mechanical aptitude understands the benefit of a ball bearing in a pulley. The condition of the sleeve is not important with a ball bearing. These make the pulley better than new.

We can provide you with the kit to do it. Note it should be one with a lathe to be perfectly centered. We have the kits for the Hermle, Herschede, and Kieninger. Speaking of Herschede, I have seen the stirrups worn so badly they are worn nearly through the bottom and the weight fall out.

If you do not wish to do them, we will do everything (but the Herschede) for $25/ set of 3 parts and labor. The Herschede for $60. That is a steal.

The difference it makes is amazing!
