The distance between the magnet on the hanger and the coil on the movement will determine the strength the swing. The above photo shows the back of the movement. Before installing the movement in a case it is always good to check the clearance to make certain the hanger swings freely as shown in the below picture. Let it swing from side to side to insure it is not too close to the case and rubbing somewhere.

If it is too close and rubbing, the hanger can be bent outward as shown in the third photo. This trick can also be used to decrease the strength of the magnet. The hanger will not break. The plastic does have some memory so it will go partway back to its own position.

In the extreme event of a narrow clock case the flat surface of the back of the movement, rubber furniture bumpers can be installed on either side of the hanger.
